Ultrasonic welding is the fastest and most widely used method for welding thermoplastics. It uses high-frequency ultrasonic energy (15 kHz, 20 kHz, 30 kHz and 40 kHz) to produce mechanical vibrations. Under the influence of an applied force, the mechanical vibrations are converted into thermal energy. The material of the parts melts in the weld zone, forming a homogeneous joint after cooling.
